This story follows Brooks, a paranoid schizophrenic plagued by a dark voice in his head and no memory of his past. His world collides with a broken siren who can hear—and speak—to him, and a mysterious girl whose traumatic past fuels her unyielding spirit. Add in meddling gods, the chaos of Pandora’s box, and the constant uncertainty of what’s real versus what exists only in Brooks’ mind, and you’ve got a story that keeps you questioning everything.

The beginning was a bit slow, and at first, the character connections felt random. But as the book unfolded, those threads tightened, the pacing picked up, and the narrative hit hard. What started as disjointed became layered, raw, and gripping.

“For what it’s worth, Siren, I would let the stars fall from the sky and watch the world burn before I let anyone take you from me.”

What I loved most is how Dawn Darling wove Greek mythology with mental health themes. I’m always fascinated by new takes on mythology, and this one felt both original and unsettling in the best way.

Overall, I really, really enjoyed this book. It’s a dark fantasy filled with pain, revenge, and gods who delight in mayhem. If you love Greek mythology with a sharp twist and characters who fight through shadows both internal and divine, One Little Nightmare is one to pick up. I’ll definitely be continuing with the rest of the series.
